Healthy eating does not need special superfoods or strict rules. It is about a pattern: plenty of vegetables, fruit, legumes and whole grains, moderate amounts of animal foods, healthy fats and less salt, sugar and ultra-processed food. This guide collects our articles on food benefits, written with reliable sources such as the WHO, NIH and USDA.
A simple plate
- Fill half of your plate with vegetables and fruit.
- Make a quarter whole grains and a quarter protein such as legumes, fish, eggs, poultry or lean meat.
- Use olive oil, nuts and seeds as the main fats.
- Drink mostly water; limit sugary drinks and keep salt moderate.
These ideas follow the WHO healthy diet guidance and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. One food never makes a diet healthy or unhealthy; the overall pattern over weeks matters most.
