Yogurt Tiramisu: The Viral Lighter Dessert You Can Make Without an Oven

Yogurt tiramisu has been one of the most shared dessert ideas on social media this year. It keeps the familiar layers of coffee-soaked biscuits and creamy filling, but uses thick yogurt in place of most of the cream.

Ingredients for 4 glasses

  • 500 g thick plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup strong cooled coffee or espresso
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • About 16 ladyfinger biscuits or Lotus Biscoff cookies
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting

Steps

  1. Mix the yogurt, honey, and vanilla until smooth.
  2. Dip each biscuit very briefly into the coffee and place it in the bottom of a glass.
  3. Spoon a layer of yogurt over the biscuits, then add another biscuit layer and yogurt.
  4. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours so the biscuits soften.
  5. Dust with cocoa just before serving.

Tips

  • Strain the yogurt in a sieve for 30 minutes for a thicker texture.
  • Use decaf coffee if you want to serve children or avoid caffeine in the evening.
  • Those with diabetes can use a sugar-free sweetener and smaller portions.
