Pumpkin chai has joined the list of popular fall drinks in cafes. Making it at home takes about 10 minutes and lets you control the sugar.
Ingredients for 2 mugs
- 2 black tea bags or 2 chai tea bags
- 1 cup water and 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, a pinch of ginger, a pinch of cloves
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (optional)
Steps
- Boil the water and steep the tea bags for 5 minutes.
- Whisk the milk, pumpkin puree, and spices in a small pan over medium heat until warm and frothy.
- Strain the tea into mugs, add the pumpkin milk, and sweeten to taste.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon.
Tips
- Caffeine is present in black tea; use a herbal chai for a caffeine-free version.
- Use unsweetened milk to keep the sugar low.
